Fetal Growth Restriction occurs when a fetus does not grow at the expected rate in the womb, often due to placental issues or maternal health conditions. It increases the risk of complications before and after birth.
Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR)
Diagnosis
Serial ultrasound scans to monitor fetal size and growth velocity
Doppler studies of umbilical artery and other fetal vessels
Fetal biometry and amniotic fluid assessment
Maternal screening for hypertension, infections, and autoimmune disorders
Treatment
Close fetal surveillance with frequent scans
Maternal nutritional support and bed rest in selected cases
Management of underlying conditions (e.g., hypertension, anemia)
Timely delivery based on fetal well-being, often via induction or C-section
